Learn About Internet Marketing

If you have a struggling internet business, you are probably facing the difficult task of how to attract visitors to your website at a price you can afford. Indeed, internet marketing is a challenge, and it takes years of persistence. There are many affordable ways to get traffic to your site. For now, we will outline the most practical ways for you to market your online business without having to spend a great deal of money. The most important task is search engine submission and optimization. There are many different search engines and directories on the internet where you can submit your web site. You need to sign up for a monthly submission plan with a credible search engine submission service. There are hundreds of these submission services on the internet; you can find them by doing a search on Google.

However, be wary of submission services that claim to be able to submit your site to 75,000 search engines. These unscrupulous submitters will submit your website to FFA pages and bogus link pages that can actually get you banned permanently from the search engines. You should only do business with submission services that submit only to the major search engines and directories.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is even more important. To optimize a site, you need to maximize your keyword density and optimize the positioning for the words or phrases for which you want to be listed. And, you need to use proper Meta tags so that the search engines can interpret your web pages.

If you do not know how to optimize your web site, you should search for an optimization consultant on Google. Avoid SEO experts who want to charge you $1,000 per month or more. Their goal is to bleed you dry before you figure out that they really can not help improve your ranking. Stick to providers who will optimize your site for a reasonable fee.

More important than SEO is link popularity. Link popularity is the number of web sites that currently link to your site. The more inbound links you acquire, the higher your search engine ranking will be.

There are several ways you can increase your number of inbound links. You can submit your site to free directories, or join a link exchange and trade links with other sites, or, you can author articles and press releases and submit them to article directories. When webmasters looking for free content place your article on their site, they must link back to your website.

If you are not patient enough to wait for your search engine ranking to improve, you can attract visitors to your web site right away by using pay-per-click (PPC). With PPC, you pay a certain cost per click to have an ad for your web page run at or near the top of the search engines. This can be extremely costly and ineffective. It is not uncommon for webmasters to blow thousands of dollars on PPC advertising and make only a few sales.

  • You’ve worked hard at SEO. Your site has been creeping up page by page and you finally get your site on the first page of Google for your targeted keyword phrase. But you’re disappointed with the sparse amount of traffíc you’re receiving…. What should you do now?

Here are some terms you must know to talk about search engine placement:

SEO = Search Engine Optimization is the science and art of getting a web page to rank well in the SERPs for a particular Keyword.

SERP = Search Engine Results Pages are the pages that a search engine returns when someone searches for something. You want your web page to be at the top of the results vs. on the 100th page. If not, no one will ever find you.

Keyword = the words or phrase that you want your site to rank well for when people search for something. For example, if you’re selling brick zippers, then your keyword phrase would probably be brick zippers.

Maybe you read my first paragraph and wondered how can that happen? Everyone usually assumes that a web page on the first page of results gets massive amounts of traffíc. But that’s not always the case.

Below I’ve listed some of the reasons you may not receive the traffíc you counted on:

    1) Your web page title and/or description are not humanly readable and appealing. Perhaps you strung some words together just to rank well with the search engines, but to a human it just does not read well and therefore does not cause them to click on the link to your site. Remember that a person reading your web page is the end result you’re wanting. Make your web page titles and descriptions a call to action so that you will motivate people to click, click, and click.

    2) Your site is listed at or near the bottom of the first page of search results vs. the top of the first page of search results. The first site on the first page receives an order of magnitude more clicks than the last site on the first page. The closer your page is to the top, the more traffíc you’ll get.

    3) You picked keywords that are not being searched on. You must always research your keywords. It’s too easy to think you know what people are searching for when you could be wrong on what the best terms are for your site. If you find this out months into using those keywords, it’s bad news. It’s easy to edit your web pages; but changing the inbound links to your web site can be impossible. Why do you care about inbound links? Search engines put a very high value on the anchor text in the links to your site. Let’s say you’ve spent months getting links to your site using the term “Red Left-Handed Widgets” because when you searched for “Red Left-Handed Widgets” on Google, it showed 944,000 results. Later, you finally use WordTracker and see how many people search for “Red Left-Handed Widgets” and you find that nothing shows up. Now, you need to find a better keyword phrase that people ARE using when they search for products or information like yours.

Here’s a real example. I helped a blog owner with some SEO for one of his sites. In this example, I’ve left out the site name and keyword terms. For this example, I did the analysis using the free version of WordTracker which only gives data from MSN, the paid version gives much more data.

He is targeting 3 keyword phrases:

    Keyword Phrase 1
Wordtracker showed 0 entries in its database, 0 predictions for 24 hours
    Google returned 2,490,000 sites
This site is on the 3rd page of results on Google (near the top of the 3rd page) for this keyword.

  • I get this article from one groups that I follow. hope U can get knowledge from it. ^^ Esp for U who stuck with Ur idea on Ur blog

I see a lot of webmasters complain in forums and chat rooms that they don’t have enough content on their web sites, but they don’t have the means or the knowledge to find more.

There are actually many ways to obtain more web site content. You could hire someone to write it for you. You could purchase some ready made content about your site topic or you could spend some time and write content yourself. But did you know that there is a way you can get hundreds of pages worth of high quality, fresh content every day without paying a cent? There is. It’s called article syndication.

    Article Syndication

Articles relating to thousands of topics are freely available for syndication on web sites. Authors provide them for this purpose to gain a wider audience and achieve more back links. Generally, the only requirement for webmasters is that the author’s by-line, resource box and link are included with the published article. In terms of copyright, you simply need to follow the author’s publishing guidelines when republishing their article. This usually involves an “About the Author” paragraph at the bottom of each article with a sentence and link to the author’s site. These syndication requirements are generally specified in the article itself.

    How to do it:

    1) Browse the Internet to find articles you can syndicate. I use the article announcement groups at Yahoo Groups, but you can also find them at sources such as Submit Your Articles.

    2) View the articles being distributed by the group and review their freshness and quality. 3) Join the email líst or subscribe to the RSS feed of any article groups that seem to be distributing content relevant to your web site.

    4) Go through your email or feed reader regularly to browse and select new articles.

    5) Cut, paste and publish the articles into your web pages, giving credít to the author as requested in their syndication guidelines.

    6) Voila! Fresh, daily content.

    Articles for Blogs

If the article content is to be used on a blog, there is an even quicker way to publish it. Depending on what blog software you use, you can simply forward the email containing the article directly to your blog control panel using the publish via email option and then edit the post to correct any formatting issues. The other advantage of this method is that search engines LOVE blogs and tend to index them more often than regular web pages.
